Latest VC Deal Flow In late May 2024

• Param Labs, a gaming platform with a significant online community across X and Discord, secured $7 million in a funding round led by top crypto investor Animoca Brands.

• Cross The Ages, a sci-fi and fantasy IP ecosystem, has raised $3.5 million in an equity round led by Animoca Brands, with participation from Sebastien Borget of The Sandbox and Nicolas Jeuffrain of Tenergie.

• IDG Capital, OptaJoe, KuCoin Ventures, and Chain Capital have invested $3 million in FantaGoal (FG), a Web3 football ecosystem.

• SingularityDAO, OIG Group, Gains Associates, New Tribe Capital, Seed Thrift, and Bigger Than Race lead the round with a $1.6 million investment in Sekuya to build an anime gaming universe and lifestyle loyalty platform.

Gala Games Receives $22 Million Refund Post GALA Token Security Incident

On May 20, an attacker managed to mint $200 million worth of GALA tokens. However, they only sold a small portion before their wallet was frozen. On May 21, the attacker returned approximately $22 million in Ether (ETH) to Gala Games. This incident highlighted both the risks and the rapid response mechanisms within the crypto community.

The return happened quickly. On May 21, the attacker’s wallet sent back 5913.2 ETH, which was valued at about $22.3 million. This amount closely matched the market value of the 600 million GALA tokens sold a day earlier.
